Tips on hiring a baby-sitter
Ask all your baby-sitters for names and phone numbers of families for whom they have baby-sat. Call these parents and find out what they think of each baby-sitter. Did they ever have any problems? If there is any doubt, do no use this sitter.- Tell your baby-sitter what your FAMILY SAFETY RULES are, including your touching safety rules. Tell them your child has been taught to tell you if any of these rules are broken.
- Ask your child if he or she likes each baby-sitter. Ask for reasons why your child does or doesn’t like each baby-sitter. Never leave your child with a baby-sitter with whom he or she doesn’t feel comfortable.
- Follow these safety guidelines even if the baby-sitter is a member of your FAMILY – an older brother, an uncle, grandfather, cousin, aunt, etc.
- Listen if your child objects to a particular baby-sitter.
