Does it seem that your child is constantly eating and has a voracious appetite? Consider these points:
- If the child is overweight, focus on healthy choices, not dieting. Instead, make subtle changes in the food available to your child. Reduce the amount of junk food, and have a variety of healthy food and snacks available.
- Teach the child better food choices, eat when they’re hungry and stop when they’re full.
- Find ways to encourage your child to be more active. Foe example, enroll the child in a sport or take them on a hike.
- As a family, avoid using food as a reward or as a means of comfort.
- Some children are predisposed to a larger “normal” weight. Help your child learn to accept themselves for who they are.
