Vegetables, your child won’t eat them no matter what you’ve tried! While many children simply assume they don’t like vegetables and refuse to eat them, with a little creative parenting you can easily overcome the stigma from greens and leaves.
- When prepping for a meal have only the vegetable ready and out to munch on.
- Avoid arguing over the issue, and be creative in solving the problem.
- Increase the amount and type of fruits your child eats to balance any lack of nutrients from vegetables. Also, give your child a daily multi-vitamin.
- Sneak vegetables into other foods, such as chopped spinach in lasagna or carrot slivers in potato salad. Pay attention to cooking shows and cook books for new, creative ideas.
- Let the kids help plant a vegetable garden. Children will eat and enjoy fresh vegetables that they have grown themselves.
- Start calling green vegetables “brain food” and let your kids know that the green stuff will make them smarter and stronger.
- Serve your child frozen vegetables or raw vegetables with yogurt or dressing for dipping, either of which is more appealing to many children than cooked veggies.
