Tips to help you answer children’s questions

Sometimes children ask the strangest things. Just when you think you’ve answered the most difficult question he could ask, he stumps you all over again.

  • Rephrase the question. Make sure you understand exactly what they’re asking.
  • Keep your response simple. If you answer their question and they move on to another subject, then you answered as much as they needed to know at that time.
  • Try to respond as quickly as possible. If you cannot answer at the time, then follow up with her later. You don’t want her to feel that you’re unwilling to answer her questions.
  • Be observant. If your children seem bothered by something, sit down and talk. There may be something bothering them that they are having problems talking about.
